The symbolic 1,000 Mile March will retrace a portion of the historic August 1966 march into Marquette Park in order to celebrate and amplify the triumphs and ongoing challenges of conditions King confronted in communities across Chicago 50 years ago.
Join us for the 1,000 Mile March on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. on 63rd and Kedzie Avenue as we walk through nine city blocks into Marquette Park, celebrating the legacy of the Chicago Freedom Movement and acknowledging the ongoing efforts of organizers far and wide to strive towards a more just and equitable city. The journey for justice continues and on that Saturday, we will march together acknowledging how far we have come and how much farther we have to go.
Register for this half-mile long march at www.mlkmemorialchicago.org. A $10 registration fee is requested to cover march expenses, but can be waived for interested participants unable to supply the fee. Individuals and organizations can also provide donations to sponsor marchers.

We really enjoyed seeing your canoe and speaking with you. We finished the whole Hunter's Island loop (all 166 miles)just a few days after seeing you. The boys were really encouraged and inspired by your trek and wanted to everything they could to finish the whole Hunter's Island loop. Blessings on your trek. Nancy, Jeff, Mark, Cliff, Lang, Alex, Erik, Grant and Fred.

The 100-mile out-and-back course is in the midst of the Colorado Rockies. Low point, 9,200 feet; high point is Hope Pass, 12,600 feet. Majority is on forest trails with some mountain roads. Pacers allowed after the 62-mile point.

In early August I drove 1,000 miles from Chestnut Hill to Northern Minnesota, where I participated in the Treaty People Walk for the Water, a 14-day, 265 mile walk from the Mississippi headwaters to the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul. I spent several days with these Water Protectors, walking 35 miles in three days from Backus to Fort Ripley, Minnesota.
The 100-year-old RAF veteran and former teacher from Newton Aycliffe, who is also profoundly deaf, has been cycling 20 miles per day, using the carriage clock from his mantle piece to keep track of time. His walking effort in 2021 raised just over 3,000 for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Charity and it is hoped that this latest challenge could surpass that.
Do not leave your car shipping arrangements until the last minute. Whether you are moving from Chicago to Houston or San Francisco to Denver, shipping a pickup truck a 1000 miles is not the most trivial event. Considering the sentimental and monetary value of your pickup, take time to plan and prepare your vehicle for shipping.
The Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race is the world's longest certified footrace.[1] In 1996 Sri Chinmoy created this event as a 2,700-mile (4,345 km) race. At the award ceremony that year he declared that the 1997 edition would be extended to 3,100 miles (4,989 km).
The Self-Transcendence 3100 mile was founded by Sri Chinmoy out of his wish to create an opportunity for runners to discover the limits of their capacities and to try to go beyond them. Hence, the name \"Self-Transcendence\", which is appended to all the footraces that the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team hosts. Since 1985 when the group first began holding races, the focus on the ultramarathon and multiday races has grown from the Ultra Trio, three races with staggered starts of 700, 1000 and 1300-mile duration that take place in September, and the spring races, which include the Self-Transcendence 6-Day race and the only annual race of its kind, the Self-Transcendence 10-Day race.

Sri Chinmoy said that the Self-Transcendence challenges runners to \"transcend their own previous capacity\", \"gain spiritual insights\" and \"overcome the entire world's pre-conceived notions of possibility\". Runners have spoken of \"the most overwhelming moment\", \"When you run a marathon, you feel good ... when you run 3,100 miles, you feel even better still\".
The world record is held by Ashprihanal Aalto who finished with a time of 40 days 09:06:21 in July 2015, breaking the previous record of 41 days 08:16:29 held by Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk.[7] The ladies' record is held by Kaneenika Janakova who completed 3100 miles in 48 days 14:24:10 in 2017. She broke the 49 days 07:52:24 record set by Surasa Mairer in 2015. Suprabha Beckjord is the only person to have completed every edition of the race (until 2009). Ashprihanal Aalto has won the race nine times and participated 15 times.
The 4-man American team 'Arctic Row' complete their epic voyage spanning Beaufort and Chucki Seas from Inuvik, Canada to Point Hope, Alaska. The team's blog/diary records that:The team completed their journey at 1:46pm local time on Sunday, August 26th, 2012, having rowed more than 1,000 miles from Inuvik, Canada to Point Hope, AK over a period of 41 days. On August 31st, Dr. Kellen Hassell began a 1,000 mile cycling journey from Miami, Florida to the Angelman Syndrome Clinic at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hassell, a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the Florida International University, rode to raise awareness and funds for Angelman syndrome research at UNC.
The world's auto industry seems to have settled on 200-plus miles for North America and 250 kilometers (160 miles) or more for European and Asian markets. The longest-range 2019 Tesla, the Model S Long Range, gets an EPA range rating of 370 miles.
The way to get 1,000 miles of range is to offer a two-seat, three-wheeled electric car with ultra-light weight and a lower drag coefficient than any other vehicle on the market. Ten years ago, we drove the prototype of just such a vehicle.
But, the team points out, an Aptera will have no need for a Supercharger network equivalent. Today's 50-kw CCS or CHAdeMO charging network can add 200 miles or more in half an hour, due not to charging speed but to the car's minimal energy usage to cover those miles.

After running to the 215 fire houses in the 5 boroughs of NYC 367 miles in 7 days during 2013, in memory of 343 FDNY firefighters and First Responders that sadly lost their lives during 9/11. I received fantastic support from the public, military veterans & FDNY.
I have known Stuart since 1990 whist serving with 59 Commando RE, during 2009 one of my early fundraising runs Stuart kindly provided me with logistical support whilst running from the Cenotaph, London to York 412 miles in 12 days, raising money for Help for Heroes Charity. To that end I said to myself I would one day raise money for Stuarts foundation.
They've already secured Aptera's original intellectual property and plan to develop a new electric car boasting 1,000 miles of range on a single charge, or close to four times as much as what current EVs average. The key is reducing mass while maximizing aerodynamic efficiency.
What do you get when you take a dozen Appalachian State University students, three passionate faculty, and an institutional commitment to sustainability As it turns out, you get a race car powered by the sun that wins third place in a three-day track race and places sixth in a cross-country race lasting eight days and nearly 2,000 miles. 153554b96e
