Some participants described a trend toward increasing intake of energy-containing beverages containing sugar, following a healthy diet. They cited coffee, tea, or soft drinks as less healthy alternatives and reasons for switching to these beverages include simply buying them instead of cooking at home.
Participants mentioned a variety of factors that influenced food choices, including relative ease of access and availability, convenience, affordability, the food market, pricing, taste, taste, ease of access, social norms, social trends, personal preferences and sociocultural factors. Some participants mentioned the strong influence of advertising on menu choices, price, and availability, whereas others believed a role for health professionals.
The participants unanimously described convenience as an important reason for purchasing unhealthy food such as bakery products, pre-prepared foods, refrigerated foods and fast foods. Other participants mentioned convenience as a reason for unhealthy eating and said that it was difficult to prepare healthy meals due to busy lifestyles.
All 10 participants mentioned a relationship between food and nutrition. They also said that food should be consumed in a balanced way, and not only for the pleasure of eating. Nutrition is the sum of the role played by all components of a diet. Nutrition includes all physical actions from birth to old age, including growth, maintenance, disease prevention and cure, and all personal attitudes, beliefs, and social behavioral patterns related to food.... It must consider the whole person, personal, psychological, cultural, and societal factors. Food and nutrition are closely intertwined, and therefore solutions to one cannot be applied to the other. Nutrition plays a significant role in determining the risks and benefits of food, including health, nutrition, and medicine.
