Cinema 4D 3.5 is one of the most popular 3D. It is a powerful professional video editing software which provides advanced. This invention relates to a method of removing oxidizable metal and/or metal oxide from a metal surface, and more particularly to such a method involving treating the metal surface with a composition that simultaneously produces a protective film and a product of oxidative reaction.
Metal surfaces, and particularly silver, are subject to oxidation when exposed to air or other oxidative agents. This oxidation, even at room temperature, causes the surface to lose its reflective and protective qualities. Moreover, when the oxidation process is not controlled, the metal surface will eventually become completely covered with a layer of silver oxide, which is very difficult to remove by conventional chemical techniques, such as etching. This process of covering the surface with silver oxide is known as blackening and results in a dark, unreflective surface that is not suitable for a wide variety of uses, particularly for applications that require the metal surface to remain highly reflective. Moreover, blackening makes the silver much more reactive to chemicals, including those that are used to clean the metal. A common method of cleaning silver is by using silver polish. Silver polish contains chemical solvents that are able to remove the oxide layer without disturbing the silver beneath the oxide.
To prevent blackening of the silver, a process known as brightening is often employed. Brightening is a process of oxidizing the metal surface so as to remove any silver oxide from the surface of the metal. This oxidation process can be accomplished by contacting the metal surface with an oxidizing agent at elevated temperatures. Many brightening agents are known, including sulfur trioxide, halogens, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, potassium permanganate, potassium chlorate, ferric nitrate, and ferric chloride. These brightening agents are corrosive, thus requiring special handling and storage of the brightening agents and of the silver in which the brightening agent is utilized. In addition, the brightening agents are often hazardous to workers due to the high temperatures required for the brightening process.
